Floorplanner update

May 2, 2007 — Category: General — by : Nico

This week we did some minor improvements in the Floorplanner drawing tool in response to some feedback.

Three separate view settings
In the navigation menu you now have the choice to toggle some view settings on or off separately. Text info, Grid, or Dimensions. Furthermore, a different approach is used for the display of measurements; for each wall separately a dimension is shown instead of dimensioning along the side. In this way a more precise dimensioning is possible. (See picture below)

Wall Thickness
Drawing functionality is improved as well. If you split a wall, the thickness is maintained for both walls. And when new walls are created from a “node” when you move a wall, the new walls inherit the thickness of the moving wall. With this improvement you will have to reset the wall thickness less often. 1. Demietri :

    Nice ‘n’ easy.
I think i want spent some time to make a Dutch Translation.

  2. Nico :

The developing team is happy to hear that. But I wouldn’t bother translating something that is allready in Dutch ;-)

  3. Gunther :

    I want make more Exercises

  4. David :

This is really a great program - easy to use and intuitive.

I’ve found it a bit tricky to “delete” walls. Is there a simple way of doing this? Also, I’ve been unable to save floorplans to disk or to email. Apart from the weblog do you have a link to a “Questions and Answers” page?

Thanks for the opportunity of being able to try this out.

    David

  5. Gert-Jan :

@Gunther: Can you be a little more specific? I don’t think I understand what you are trying to say.

@David: Thanks! We’re doing our best to keep the application as intuitive and easy-to-use as possible.

We know that there is an issue with deleting walls, and we’re working on an elegant way to get it fixed. When we release it, we’ll post a message on the weblog.

Check out the help page, www.floorplanner.com/help for a bunch of tutorial movies on how you can use the Floorplanner. Hope this helps.
