Importing FloorPlanner project
|

Our designer has sent us a FloorPlanner project (3 floors of one property) in the format below (don’t click, your browser might crash):
We both have Floorplanner Pro accounts. I can receive the project, and I am logged in to my account, but FloorPlanner tells me that I don’t have the ‘rights’ to edit the project. I wish to edit (small alterations and add text) and save the project, and although I can move furniture, and save, I cannot add text. Any advice on how I can have rights to edit would be appreciated or perhaps a direction to where there are instructions in the documentation, which I have not found. Having edited the project, I then need to send it back to our designer who is adding hotlinks to images, so the normal procedure for export would help as well. |

Hello, Yes, sharing a project with another account is possible. He/she can use the 3rd icon after the plan name (the paper with green arrow). There he/she give up the email address of the other account, and the plan will appear on top in the plan list of the other account. This is a copy, so changes can be made in both plans seperately. You will have to share it again to your designer after you make your changes. Nico |

OK, Nico, thanks. Just so I understand this clearly, when I get an email from my designer in the format: Click the following link to see it: That plan should be in my plan list? If not there is something wrong with the way we are doing the export/import? If I follow the link, I can see the plan, whether I am logged into my account or not, but I cannot edit the plan from that link. I assume the last 6 characters of that url are identifying that plan uniquely, and I should see those 6 characters in my list of plans in my account, on top? Does my designer have to ‘release’ the plan for me to edit? |

Hello again, This should work correctly, the designer doesn’t have to release it after he/she shared it with you. but you must be logged in to edit it and access it via the “draw” icon in front of the plan name. Accessing it via the link in the email doesn’t work, you should get there via “Plans” or “Overview” You will see the name of the plan in the list on top, if you mouseover the Draw icon you can see the url in the bottomleft corner of your browser. |

OK, looks like we’ve figured it out – thanks. One more question: Designer sends me a plan. I work on it and revise it. I send it to someone else for their opinion. Floorplanner says copy will be sent to owner of plan. Who is the owner of the plan? The original designer? Thanks. |

In that case, you are; the original designer’s plan, of which you have a copy, should remain unchanged. |
